Press and starch all fabrics prior to cutting. Use a scant 1/4" seam.
12" finished block
From fabric 1, cut:
{A} (4) 2” squares
{E} (2) 4½” squares
From fabric 2, cut:
{B} (8) 2” x 3” rectangles
{D} (8) 2½” squares
{F} (1) 4 ½” square
From fabric 3 cut:
{C} (4) 3” squares
{D} (8) 2½” squares
Using A, (2) B, and C, assemble corner units as shown. Press to the dark side and then open. Make (4).
Draw a diagonal line on the back of (2) Fabric 2 D squares and (2) Fabric 3 D squares. Place a light blue square on the upper left-hand side of Fabric 1 square E. Sew along the line, and trim ¼” away. Press out. Repeat on the remaining three corners as shown to create ssquare in a square unit. Make (4).
Combine units made in Steps 1-2, and teal square F together as shown to create Nisse’s Magic Block. Press seams open to reduce bulk. Block measures 12½” unfinished.
